I joined pickleball this April and have found it to be so much fun that I get workouts in spite of my age and lethargy.
It is well managed by Helene Crane and Faye Gower (who are snowbirds here for just the summer and early fall).
It costs just $30 to join from mid-April to October and free lessons come with it. I wish that there were more publicity in terms of hope for seniors getting engaged in activities.
There are varying levels and no one is ever made to feel left out. We all progress in our own momentum.
As far as I know there are also court facilities available during the winter here and in Osoyoos.
Living alone I find these and other events in Oliver an opportunity to connect with our townspeople and feel alive.
I hope that you will take a look and see how much fun we have and then spread the word. It sure beats sitting at home getting fat and letting our loneliness get to us. Just sayin’.
Thanks for listening. I’m new since May of 2014 and impressed with the town of Oliver as a hub of goodwill and fun for all age groups.
