The Oliver RCMP is seeking the public’s help in locating the perpetrators responsible for causing power outages in the community.
On two occasions the Fortis electrical substation in Oliver (off Sawmill Road) has been the target for mischief.
On March 23 at approximately 11:30 am someone threw a metal pole (with metal wiring attached to it) over the fence onto substation wires, causing a brief power outage.
On April 2 at approximately 12:30 pm, a person performed the same act with a similar setup, causing another power outage.
“The risk of harm to the person(s) responsible in doing such mischief would certainly result in serious injury or death should they come in contact with the electrical system through the act,” said Oliver RCMP Sgt. Blaine Gervais.
The Oliver RCMP is asking if anyone has information to please contact the local RCMP at 250-498-3422 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
