As a resident I would like to vent my frustration to the public and to the Town council about the activities that are out of control this year.
As an Oliver resident and employee in town do I turn my head or rather the other cheek to the onslaught of disrespect to our hard working citizens: defiling of property, defecation in our parks where our children play, on our hiking trails, and yes, even our parking lots, and destruction and garbage and defiling our buildings with graffiti that these so-called French students/workers have repeatedly done to our town. And now we say, oh great, let’s give them a day to celebrate.
Indulge them for bad behaviors when they give no respect back to us and our town? They (some) steal daily from our stores and we try to watch and catch them, but we are working so why do we need to stop and deal with them every minute of every day?
What was the Town thinking that they would honour them but allow such destruction in the three months a year they invade us?
There are plenty of other foreign workers in this town who do not destroy or disrespect us, who live among us, who work with us, who buy their food, not steal it every single day.
I am appalled at their activities this year; the destruction and trespassing they are causing and yet the Town council turns heads and allows them to continue. Granted, they are not all like this, but I have seen every day thefts and disrespect.
I cannot even park or walk past a store or go to the park with my child without being bombarded with having to walk over and around bodies and baggage and constantly having to say no to beggars. This is not my idea of a peaceful town life nor do I want to spend my summer locked up in my home because we have no place to go that isn’t being overrun.
