The Osoyoos Secondary School’s senior girls volleyball team are victorious as the overall provincial champions this year. The school held a celebratory assembly on Monday morning to cheer on the team for their amazing victory and dedication.
In his speech to the school at the assembly, principal Scott Tremblay emphasized how difficult it is to even make it to the top five as a public school, let alone winning the first place championship in the province.
“It means so much to not only myself but to the school community, to our staff, and to (coach) Brad, and these ladies after five years in the making,” said Tremblay.
Each member of the team was called up one by one into the gym as the students cheered and clapped to congratulate them.
“The way that these girls are prepared for matches, the way that these girls train, and even further back when these girls in grade eight greeted me when I walked into this gym, I looked at them and went ‘huh, we got something here,’ said their team coach Brad Burns.
The team finally put up a blue provincial championship on the gym wall and held their trophy up with smiles and cheers all around. Congratulations to their hard work!
