Dear Editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to express how fortunate we are to have a ‘caring’ hospital within the vicinity of the Town of Osoyoos.
The South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver is filled with wonderful staff who do their best to help all of us in our time of need.
Sometimes we need to wait for our turn when visiting the emergency department, but hopefully most of us realize that our problems may be small compared to those being rushed in.
Hopefully we can understand and accept there might be people being rushed to hospital that are suffering from much worse problems.
It is so comforting to know that when it is our turn, we will be given compassion, understanding, patience, and, most of all, a smile.
Over the recent Easter holiday weekend, I was in the emergency department at SOGH every eight hours to receive intravenous antibiotics.
These regular visits gave me a true look at what is going on within the facilities we have.
The gift all local residents share at this hospital is the great staff we are so very fortunate to have working there. The smiles, laughter and happiness given help ease the pain.
