A 61-year-old Osoyoos woman is dead after succumbing to her injuries following an alleged assault in Osoyoos.
Roderick Ashley Flavell, 62, was charged with aggravated assault last week, alleged to have occurred during the evening of April 8.
BC Coroners Service confirmed they had been notified of the death the woman in Osoyoos, who the Penticton Herald has identified as Tina Seminara, and the coroners service is in the early stages of the investigation with no further details at this time.
The RCMP investigation has been turned over to the Southeast District Major Crimes Unit in Kelowna, Osoyoos RCMP Sgt. Jason Bayda told the Times. He did not comment on further charges being brought from the Crown.
The BC Prosecution Service told the Times Flavell’s bail hearing has been adjourned to April 21 and he has not been released from custody. The prosecution service did not have a comment on upgraded charges as of 3 p.m. Friday.
The 61-year-old woman was sent to hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries on April 8 according to RCMP, after officers responded at 11 p.m. to a woman in need of possible medical attention inside a residence located within the golf course subdivision.
Frontline officers responded to the home where they located the 61-year-old woman in medical distress “suffering from obvious trauma,” RCMP said.
Both parties were well known to one another, RCMP said.
