It will be mainly cloudy overnight with a 60 per cent chance of showers this evening. A few showers are expected near midnight. The wind will continue to blow from the south at 20 km/h, becoming light this evening. The overnight low will be 6.

The forecast for Tuesday is a few showers ending in the morning, then mainly cloudy with a 40 per cent change of showers. The wind will blow from the north at 20 km/h in the afternoon with a daytime high of 12. It will remain cloudy overnight with a 40 per cent chance of showers and overnight low of zero.

Summerland Steam on verge of elimination

The team that knocked out the Osoyoos Coyotes from the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) playoffs is on the verge of being eliminated.

The Summerland Steam trail the 100 Mile House Wranglers 3-1 in their best-of-seven series, with game five set for 100 Mile House Monday night.

The Steam eliminated the Coyotes in six games in the conference finals.

In the other conference final, the Kimberley Dynamiters lead the Beaver Valley Nitehawks 3-1 in their series, with game five set for Monday night in Kimberley.

The league championship series is scheduled to begin this weekend.

Indie films showing in Kelowna

Osoyoos and area film fans might want to make the trip to Kelowna this weekend as the Okanagan Society of Independent Filmmaking (OSIF) is holding its first annual Okanagan IndieFest: Short Films and Docs festival at the Paramount Theatre in Kelowna.

OSIF has taken the best short films and documentaries created in the Okanagan Valley and will showcase them on Thursday night.

Prizes will be awarded for Best Film, Best Documentary, People’s Choice Award, Best Acting (films only), Best Cinematography (films and docs), Best Story (films and docs) and Best Post-Production (films and docs).

A total of 10 short films and documentaries will be shown Thursday night.

Doors open at the Paramount Theatre at 6 p.m., with films screened beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 at the door or $10 if purchased early. Early bird tickets are available at The Film Factory in Kelowna, Leo’s Videos and online at www.osif.org/indiefest.
