Osoyoos’ Rona store is closing in January, Lowe’s Canada announced today.

The store is one of 34 across the country that are closing due to underperformance.

Lowe’s Canada says the move is to “optimize its network.”

“While making decisions that impact our associates and their families is never easy, closing underperforming stores is a necessary step in our plan to ensure the long-term stability and growth of our Canadian business,” Tony Cioffi, Interim President of Lowe’s Canada said in a news release.

Lowe’s Canada says employees affected by these changes will be supported throughout the transition and eligible employees will be offered the opportunity to transfer to a nearby store.

The Osoyoos store, located at 6014-51 St., is closing on Jan. 31.

Two other stores in B.C., Lowe’s Prince George and Rona Surrey, are facing closures as well.
