UPDATE: Osoyoos RCMP report that wanted man Kael Austin Svendsen was arrested Saturday afternoon in Osoyoos without incident. He was remanded in custody at the Osoyoos RCMP Detachment to appear in provincial court in Penticton on Monday, Nov. 26. Police thank those from the public who called in with numerous tips over the last couple of days to provide information on Svendsen’s whereabouts. “It is these tips that led to his arrest,” said Sgt. Jason Bayda, area commander.
The Osoyoos RCMP are seeking the public’s help in locating a man wanted on eight province-wide arrest warrants.
Kael Austin Svendsen, 21, is believed to be frequenting the Osoyoos and Oliver areas, Osoyoos RCMP said in a news release issued Thursday.
He is described as a Caucasian make, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 160 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
In September, Svendsen was placed on numerous conditions including 24-hour house arrest while awaiting trial. Soon he breached those conditions and has yet to be located, RCMP said.
He is wanted on one count of careless use of a firearm, one count of possessing a firearm, one count of escaping lawful custody, one count of theft under $5,000, one count of mischief under $5,000, two counts of break and enter, two counts of assault, two counts of fraud under $5,000, two counts of breach of an undertaking and eight counts of possessing stolen property.
If you know the whereabouts of Svendsen or see him, police warn not to approach him, but instead to call 911 or Crime Stoppers and refer to Osoyoos RCMP file 2017-6698.
