Singer Rusty Copeland waded into the audience at last Friday evening’s final concert of Osoyoos Music in the Park, continuing to sing and play, thanks to wireless technology. Copeland performs a mix of folk and classic popular songs. The audience when Copeland performed was the largest of the summer, but while Copeland is a perennial favourite, many came to see the wildly popular Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, who were the next and final act. Copeland is one of the Three Amigos who along with Janis St. Louis and Alan Bleiken launched Music in the Park last year. Osoyoos Music in the Park wrapped up its 2016 season last Friday with its biggest crowd yet this year.
Hundreds of people who came out to Gyro Park enjoyed a double bill opened by local singer Rusty Copeland and followed by the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, who are wildly popular.
Originally only five band members were scheduled to play as the opening act, but the program changed with the entire band coming back by popular demand.
This was the second year for Osoyoos Music in the Park, a free Friday night concert series organized by the Three Amigos: Janis St. Louis, Alan Bleiken and Copeland.
