The Town of Osoyoos has made a substantial correction to the 5-year financial plan but says the mistake only impacts the summary and not the detailed information within the body of the document.
In an eNews update the town said it learned following the January 9 public meeting at the Sonora Centre that three pieces of summary information “were not itemized correctly in the budget package”. This resulted in a $317,000 discrepancy.
The town hastened to add that “all other information including the detailed financial plan and supporting documentation is correct as previously circulated and has not changed.”

Town Council and staff listened to presentations from two presenters and noted that a total of two letters were received.
The affected summary information (Highlighted Changes for the 2025-2029 General Operating Budget – 5 page Report) starting on page 10 of the updated budget package has been amended as follows:
- Transportation, Recreation & Buildings funding of $3,000 amended to $153,000
- Sustainability funding of $9,910 amended to $159,910, and
- Short Term Rentals (STR) Regulations funding of $7,000 has been added.
The town said pages 10-14 in the budget package summary have been amended to incorporate the three changes, and supersede the information distributed for the January 9, 2025 meeting.

To allow additional time for residents to review the amended budget package the town has extended the deadline for written comments to be included in Council’s agenda package for the January 16, 2025 budget deliberation meeting to Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at noon.
Written comments on the budget package can be sent to [email protected] or delivered to the municipal office at 8707 Main Street, Osoyoos.
