The Town of Osoyoos is working with Interior Health officials to scout locations and set up a vaccination clinic as early as the first week of March.

“Town staff have dealt with Interior Health in Oliver and Osoyoos in exactly the same manner,” said Mayor Sue McKortoff. “They’ve had a look at what places are available because they need a place for seven months, and they need it 24/7.”

McKortoff explained that they’ve been searching for a location for about two weeks now and are yet to decide on one that’s available with all the required needs such as running water and washroom facilities.

“Our community service director, Gerald Davis, who has been looking after this, is working out the fine details with Interior Health,” said McKortoff.

McKortoff and Oliver Mayor Martin Johansen are attending regular Zoom meetings with Interior Health officials on a weekly basis to stay updated on the details around vaccinations and specific dates.

“At this point, we don’t have enough of the vaccine yet to actually start doing it in a big way. So they’re going to have to keep us updated on that. We will attend meetings once a week to make sure we get the right information,” said McKortoff.
