Christmas shoppers will be able to choose from the work of 30 local artists and artisans when The Art Gallery Osoyoos again holds its Christmas Artisan Market, starting Saturday.

The market runs from Saturday, Nov. 3 to Saturday, Dec. 22.

This year’s market is called “Country Christmas,” said Darlene Fillion, the local potter who is coordinating it.

But the format will be essentially the same as the past three years, she said, although there will be some new artists and artisans.

Each of the 30 participants gets a section of wall space, sometimes called a “stall,” around the two rooms of the gallery.

“We try to get artists to do smaller items, great for Christmas gifts,” said Fillion. “Instead of having $500 paintings, they might do smaller paintings at a more reasonable price.”

Potters, she said, also try to do smaller and more affordable pieces, she added.

Among this year’s artisans there will be a soap maker and a maker of decorative glass, she said.

Individual artists aren’t bound to follow the “Country Christmas” theme, she said, but the volunteers helping to decorate the gallery will have that theme in mind.

There is an open house on Saturday starting at noon with hot apple cider and Christmas cookies.

The Art Gallery Osoyoos is located at 8713 Main Street, just west of town hall. It is open Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
