As part of Osoyoos’ 75th anniversary, the Osoyoos Credit Union announced that it will distribute $75,000 to local non-profit organizations and community groups.
The Community Giving Fund is normally $50,000, but the credit union added another $25,000 this year to celebrate the town’s anniversary as well as help community groups that are in need.
Since the fund started in 2017, the credit union has awarded 45 grants to local organizations and community groups for projects and initiatives.
“This is a major milestone. We want our members and our community to know we’ve been here for 75 years and we’re committed to the next 75 and beyond. The increase to our Community Giving Fund is just one of the ways we’re sharing our success with the community,” said Greg Sol, CEO of the Osoyoos Credit Union.
The grant encourages applications with “economic revitalization” in mind. This refers to programs and initiatives that can improve the economy along with community life. For example, housing programs, poverty reduction, and social enterprise.
