Local business does good

Osoyoos' Unity Clothing and Boardsports is now taking orders for their new special edition DC Unity Lynx 2 Shoe.
Although the shoe will not be available until late January/early February 2006, store owner Jamie Elder is offering consumers pre-paid shoe cards in time to slip into a Christmas card or stuff into a stocking. The shoes will be priced at $129.
That way, friends, parents and grand-parents can still buy someone a pair of shoes for Christmas. Once the shipment arrives, the card-holders can come in and redeem their cards for a pair of shoes, Elder explained.
The shoe card will specify the recipient's name and shoe size, ensuring that enough sizes are ordered to fulfil the advance purchases.
For the first season, the unique Unity shoe will only be on sale locally.
Unity was one of only a handful of shops across North America, and the first in Canada, to be offered the chance to design their own shoe earlier this year.
Some of the rugged features of the DC Unity Shoe include an absorbalite sole, heel and toe impact protection gel systems, lightweight mesh tongue, soft tricot lining and internal elastic tongue holders for foot stability.
DC Shoes are popular amongst skateboarders and the general consumer looking for a durable, comfortable cross-trainer.
The special edition sage and olive green Unity shoe will no doubt be hitting the boards at the Osoyoos Skateboard Park in the new year.
