Orange Shirt Day will be held in Oliver on Monday, Sept. 30 to promote awareness of the residential school system and its impact on Aboriginals in our communities.

Motorists are reminded that there will be delays on Main Street where a march will be held starting at the Town Hall at 1 p.m.

Osoyoos Indian Band Chief Clarence Louie will address the event, along with Mayor Martin Johansen and residential school survivor Helen Gallagher.

Local schools will also be taking part in the march.

The event will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the closing of St. Eugene’s residential school in Cranbrook.

Motorists can expect some delays during this time.
