A woman suffered injuries in a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 97 north of Oliver at approximately 10:45 this morning.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene just south of River Road where a white Cherokee SUV was on its roof with one occupant trapped inside.

First responders were able to extricate the driver who was taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.

Oliver RCMP Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth said the vehicle, travelling southbound, left the road and flipped a couple of times before landing on its roof. He said a dog inside the vehicle appeared unharmed and was looked after by Oliver Fire Chief Bob Graham.

Wrigglesworth said speed was a contributing factor considering what road conditions were like.

“I remind people to have proper winter tires and check your tread wear because this accident certainly could have been avoided by having good tires and slowing down.”
