Judy Hill, from Oliver, scored a hole in one last Tuesday, June 26 at the Osoyoos Ladies Desert Open at the Osoyoos Golf Club.

It is believed this is the first time ever that a hole in one has been scored at this particular event, said Audrey McCulloch, marketing and member services, with Osoyoos Golf Club.

Hill, from Nk’Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course in Oliver, won $5,000 for her accomplishment.

Hill has golfed since she was 27, but has really honed her game since retiring three years ago to Oliver. Her handicap is now 14/15.

She has been coming to this tournament for the past three years and intends to continue.

The Osoyoos Ladies Desert Open is an individual stroke play tournament exclusively for ladies based on all groups of handicaps.

The club held seven flights with 108 ladies participating.

Numerous smaller prizes were awarded for low gross and low net at three levels, and in each flight, longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt on hole 18.

The golf club had an insurance policy to cover the cost of the hole in one prize money.
