Lower revenue from this year’s Oliver Sunshine Festival has prompted organizers to consider changes to the event.

The recent festival brought in less than $14,000, compared to $19,410 last year.

Natalie Korsovetski, interim manager of Oliver Parks and Recreation, said they didn’t have the numbers (attendance) like they experienced in past years.

“That could possibly be due to the poor weather forecast (on July 9) and also due to the missing midway rides.”

However, they did see a large turnout of families with young children, she pointed out.

Korsovetski said the festival’s direction and that of Uncork the Sun will have to be revisited because not enough interest is being shown. She said possible changes could include cutting the event short to one or two days, or changing the dates.

“At this point, all parties involved are not interested in repeating the same scenario.”

Korsovetski said the board and the Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association will brainstorm some new ideas.
