The Canada Day long weekend was a busy one for the Oliver RCMP as they responded to 50 calls.
They consisted of driving complaints, four assault files at Okanagan Correctional Centre, and a number of domestic incidents involving alcohol.
One call on July 3 related to a single vehicle accident on Gallagher Lake Frontage Road where a Nissan Xterra was driven into a fence.
Police found the 70-year-old male driver, a resident of Langley, was impaired by alcohol and without insurance. In addition, he was unlicenced and prohibited from driving.
Upon further investigation, police learned he had several arrest warrants for failing to appear on charges of assault and assault with a weapon.
The man was arrested and held in custody to appear for a bail hearing on July 4. The vehicle was impounded, and he was served a 90-day roadside suspension.
