As COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease up, the Town of Oliver is preparing to ease up too.
In a report to council, Corporate Officer Diane Vaykovich says the Town is planning to transition to limited in-person attendance at public hearings and council meetings. These meetings are currently held via Zoom since the size of council chambers is not conducive to necessary physical distancing.
Under Step 2 of the province’s “restart plan,” indoor organized gatherings of up to 50 people are now permitted.
Vaykovich said if the province implements Step 3 by July 1, the public could be allowed back into chambers for the July 12 meeting. Under Step 3, public health orders change from masks being mandatory to “recommended.” Careful social contact will also be permitted.
Under Step 4 (starting September 7), masks will be a “personal choice” and social contact will be back to normal.
The Town’s restart plans will be discussed today at its regular meeting.
