The Oliver Fire Department (OFD) held its annual dinner and awards on Friday, February 23 with nearly 60 firefighters, partners and invited guests and dignitaries celebrating the achievements of the department. 

The dinner was held at Rattlesnake Lounge at Nk’Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course.

“We celebrated the dedicated members of the department with our annual dinner and awards night. We give our thanks to them for showing up and putting in their selfless acts of service to the community,” the OFD said.

The big award of the evening went to Earle Streeter in recognition of his 25 years of service to the community. 

In other news, the fire department’s Deputy Chief, DC Bryon Somerville has announced he will not be seeking appointment for another term.

Somerville is entering his 27th year with the OFD, 17 of those years spent in a Captain role. He will, however, remain with the department as a firefighter.

“We want to thank DC Bryon Somerville for his many years of dedicated service to making the Oliver Fire Department what it is today, and look forward to continuing to see Bryon at practice and on calls as a mentor and Sr. Firefighter,” said the Town of Oliver.

Taking over Somerville’s role will be  Rob Graham and Ash Regner who have been appointed by the Town of Oliver as Deputy Fire Chiefs.

With over 25 years of combined dedicated service to their community, the two bring a wealth of experience, passion, and commitment to their new roles, the town said.

“Their tireless efforts and unwavering dedication have undoubtedly made a significant impact on the safety and well-being of our community. The Town is proud to have Rob and Ash stepping up to lead their department, and we have full confidence in their abilities to excel in their new positions.”
