Can’t wait for those DQ cakes? Well, you won’t have to wait much longer as Oliver’s newest restaurant is gearing up for a March opening.

New manager Herry Tangiri says the “most modern” Dairy Queen design is coming soon to the corner of Highway 97 and Veterans Avenue. He notes the doors will open to the public in the last week of March.

“Going by the vibe and inquiries, it seems the entire South Okanagan is superbly excited, especially the town of Oliver. Candidates are applying to work here with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm, response so far is tremendous.”

The manager notes they expect to hire 40 to 45 people.

Tangiri says the restaurant will feature a full menu comprising of every “Grill and Chill” item including DQ cakes and novelties. He points out there will also be a convenient drive-thru and outdoor patio.

“We are working to get major delivery partners too.”

Tangiri says the restaurant will be committed to nothing less than the ‘Fan Food Not Fast Food’ slogan.

The manager states that development has been going well with great support and cooperation by Town of Oliver staff.

Director of Development Services Randy Houle says there will be four, two-bedroom residential units on the second floor of the building. Some retail space is also part of the plan, but no tenant has been identified yet.

Tangiri says they are currently hiring employees. Positions include cake decorator, shift leader, grill cook, and cashier.
