The Oliver Cooling Centre at the Oliver Community Centre opens today to help keep people cool and safe during this hot spell. Environment Canada says the hot weather will stick around until next weekend with Monday forecast to be 33°C before rising to 36°C on Thursday with the hot weather breaking on Saturday when the temperature drops to 26°C with chance of showers.

To help beat the heat, the Town of Oliver recommends:

  • Drink water regularly;
  • Wear light, breathable clothing;
  • Avoid outdoor activities during peak heat;
  • Check in on neighbours and loved ones.

The Cooling Centre is located at the Oliver Community Centre, 6359 Park Drive from August 24-26 noon to 8 p.m.
