It’s February. The landscape in the South Okanagan looks dreary, with little colour left on the trees and vineyards.
Be not dismayed, the Oliver Art Gallery has a feature wall of painted landscapes, depicting brightly coloured canvasses of all four seasons.
If you haven’t been to the gallery recently, you will be pleasantly surprised with changing art displays of cards, sculpture and pottery, as well as children’s books; all work by the artists who make up the cooperative known as the Oliver Art Gallery.
There you will be able to pick up a piece of art such as paintings on canvas, rock paintings, pottery, and excellent quality prints.
Our reasonable prices won’t empty your pocketbook either. You will find many items under $100.
March is just around the corner, and our feature wall will be filled with new challenges. Subject matter will be optional, but the focus is on mixed media works of art.
Mixed media is a term used to explain how many different materials will be used on the same canvas.
Imagine paintings containing found objects such as shells or rocks.
Paints, inks, and pencils, can all be used on the same canvas along with fabrics, paper, or buttons.
There is no limit to what we can use to create some exciting new pieces.
The artists of the Oliver Art Gallery are working hard to bring art and culture to the area.
The standard of work is very high, as all are professional artists who are juried in order to have work accepted for display.
We are very happy for the support of local residents, and look forward to keeping things exciting through our constantly changing displays.
