The pandemic is not stopping the Oliver Ambassador Committee from preparing several new candidates this year.
“The Oliver Ambassador Committee is proud to inform you that despite the difficulty of the current times, our program is continuing for the 2020 season,” said coordinator Lori Maritine.
Current ambassadors Phat Thai, Myaia Koenig, Sharon Grewal and Kael Koteles are proving to be positive role models for six new candidates who will participate in workshops on public speaking, finance, personal presentation, interview skills, mental health and personal safety.
The candidates are: Kyah Allen, sponsored by Re/Max Wine Capital Realty, Anika Franzen-Brown, sponsored by Oliver Lions Club, Rylee Chapdelaine, sponsored by Little Buddies Marketing, Ltd., Aiden Duursma, sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #97, Lexis Hartle, sponsored by M&J Country Kitchen, and Phi Thai, sponsored by The Kiwanis Club of Oliver.
Martine said pageant dates have been moved to Oct. 2 and 3 in the hopes that a small event can be held.
