The Okanagan Film Commission would like to invite you to “Discover your role in film” at Okanagan Film Fundamentals 2016, taking place March 3-6.

Okanagan Film Fundamentals 2016 is aimed at helping aspiring filmmakers in the Okanagan kick-start their film making careers.

The Motion Picture Industry Orientation Course, which will be held twice throughout the weekend, teaches the foundations needed to be able to work safely on a film set.

The symposium in March will bring together some of the most talented people in the industry to lead workshops and sessions on film and television production, financing, script writing, directing, budgeting, distribution, pitching story ideas, and entertainment law.

In addition to the opportunity to learn from the best, the symposium will provide opportunities for participants to network and build relationships with industry VIPs. There will also be forums for participants to pitch their films to real funders and producers.

Okanagan Film Fundamentals is being presented for locals who want to know how a beginner gets started in this business, how one gets into the film industry, and how one finds one’s place in this exciting industry.

Jon Summerland, Okanagan Film Commissioner, comments, “As the film and television production industry grows in the Okanagan, I get many requests each week with these questions. To be responsive to our community, the Board of Directors of the Okanagan Film Commission is creating this exciting event.”
