The Oliver -Osoyoos Branch of the Okanagan Historical Society is hosting its annual general meeting.

Member of the public are invited to join club members on Sunday, April 12 at 2 p.m. at the Osoyoos United Church to hear guest speaker George Fraser talk about 100 Years in Osoyoos: One Family’s Perspective.

The Fraser family was a very prominent pioneer family and did a lot to develop and enhance many of the amenities our community enjoys today.

Branch meetings begin with the guest speaker, followed by a short break before the business portion of the meeting.

Guests are welcome to come and hear the guest speaker and leave during the break. Those who wish to stay for the business portion are welcome to do so.

The Okanagan Historical Society, founded in 1925, is composed of branches that represent communities from Osoyoos to Salmon Arm.

Local branches are involved in a variety of history projects, and each year the OHS publishes an annual report containing a collection of stories that record Okanagan events, histories, personalities and organizations.

The reports are available through local museums and archives as well as the branch.

New members are always welcome.

The local branch meets once in the spring and once in the fall.

The club’s executive is looking for a secretary to take and produce minutes for the upcoming meetings.

If you would like further information, you may get in touch with Larry Shannon in Oliver at 250-498-2452 or Gayle Cornish at 250-495-7715 in Osoyoos.
