
Raymond Lacourse
On Friday July 19, 2019, Mr. Raymond “Ray” Lucien Lacourse of Osoyoos passed away suddenly at his home at the age of 78 years.
He was predeceased by his brothers Maurice, John and Claude and sister Lucille.
Ray will be fondly remembered by his loving family including brother Gary and sister Denise as well as a multitude of nephews and nieces.
He was a man of many trades over the years including amongst others working as a stone mason and auto mechanic. He was a long time employee and eventually retired from the Oshawa (Ontario) Public Library. After retirement, he wanted to live in a warmer climate and so relocated to the BC Okanagan Valley in 2002.
Ray was very well traveled throughout Europe, North America and the Caribbean. In the 60’s, he backpacked through Europe. He especially enjoyed boating in the waters of the west coast in Puget
Sound and around Vancouver Island with his nephew Stephen and family in the yacht “Wild Rose”.
He served in the Canadian Armed Forces and was an active member of the Canadian Legion, Oliver, BC branch. He volunteered his time over the years with local museums and with the Legion preparing exhibits of memorabilia and military service awards.
Ray was an avid reader with interests in military history and crime fiction. He was also a collector of Canadian coins, antiques and of First Nations art and pottery.
