Forever In Our Hearts

Peter Vanjoff, at 95 years of age, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 5, 2021. He was a New Year’s baby, born on January 1, 1926 in Grand Forks, B.C.

He married Alice on February 24, 1951 and they settled on their orchard in Oliver in 1952.  This is where he spent the best years of his life. Peter was passionate about his orchard and took pride in the crops he grew. Growing quality fruit was in his blood and this came with hard work and resilience. Together they always welcomed family, neighbours and friends to the farm, and most couldn’t leave without some food and drinks.

Peter retired in 1991 and remained on one acre of land adjacent to the orchard where he was happy to continue to grow fruit. In 2013, at 87 years of age, Peter and Alice moved to Kelowna to be near their kids and grandkids.  They continued to live independently in a gated community with beautiful landscaping. He discovered new activities: coffee and the newspaper in the sunshine, his daily dose of the Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune, and maintained his competitive nature playing Skipbo with his kids and grandkids. He will be remembered for his sense of humour, his welcoming smile and his kind nature. He always had a story to tell and loved his sweets.

Peter is survived by Alice, his wife of 70 years, daughters, Joyce (Drew); Barb (Rod) and granddaughter Ella; son Larry, granddaughter Holly (Mark) and great granddaughter Neala. He was predeceased by grandson Peter Vanjoff.
