
Mary Koenig
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Koenig at 88 years young. Mary passed away peacefully at the Moog & Friends Hospice House in Penticton on January 5th, 2022.
Mary was born in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan on October 31, 1933 but lived in Osoyoos since 1947. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Parish, Catholic Women’s League, Red Hat’s, Triple O Singers, Avon’s president club, she square danced, round danced and line danced and taught Catechism for a number of years. She was a proud Mother of 5 children, Linda (Joe) Strumecki, Bev (Ian) Smith, Dan (Anne Marie) Koenig, Tom (Terralee) Koenig and Donna (Joe) Maciel. She had 8 grandchildren, Jason (Marie) Strumecki, Cory (Jasmine) Strumecki, Brandon Maciel, Danielle Koenig, Donald Koenig, Kris (Barbara) Koenig, Travis Koenig and Blake Maciel. She also has 4 great grandchildren, Katelyn Strumecki, Bowen, Tess and Joe Strumecki.
She was predeceased by her parents Ludwina and Karl and by her husband Donald. Mary will be missed by everyone that had the privilege to know her.
Mass and funeral services will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church at a later date in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to BC Children’s Hospital or to Moog Hospice House Penticton.
