On Sunday, October 23, 2021, Mrs. Maria Isabel Raposo of Oliver passed away suddenly due to an injury in Azores, Portugal, at the age of 85 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Antonio Raposo; father, Antonio Pereira Da Silva; mother, Francisca Margarida Goulart; sisters, Maria, Eduina, and Anna and brothers, Manuel and Antonio.
Isabel will be fondly remembered by her loving family including beloved sister Francisca; sons, Victor (Debbie) and Tony (Doris); daughter, Linda Sykes (Jamie Grieve); grandchildren, Jeremy (Sofia), Timothy (Breanne Hoover), Anthony (Melanie), Zachary, Christina, Caleb, Cole and Xavier; great-grandchildren, Owen, Ethan and Bethany; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Over the years, Isabel worked at The Oliver Hospital in the laundry department and in the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Vancouver as a seamstress. She was a loving housewife and mother and helped on the family orchard.
Isabel enjoyed traveling extensively to and from Pico, Azores and was a devoted member of the Catholic Church who looked forward to attending Mass and church functions on a regular basis. She was a member of the CWL and volunteered at Oliver Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop for many years. She looked forward to going to the Oliver Seniors Centre and partaking in lively conversation with her friends there.
A private family funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday, November 20th followed by internment and committal at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery.
