Mabel Takacs

(1940-2021)

Mabel will be missed by so many, never forgotten, and loved forever.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of

our beautiful mother, Mabel Takacs. She passed away

peacefully in her sleep on February 9 in Osoyoos,

BC.

Born October 9 1940 in Calgary, Alberta to Irish

parents Alex and Lilian Campbell.

She is survived, remembered and dearly loved by her

husband of 53 years Ted Takacs, daughter Lori Harris

and son Tommy Takacs, as well as her grandchildren

– Tommy’s four children – Georgia, Hayley, Molly

and Teddy who loved and admired her and were very

close to her. Although Tommy and his children lived

in England, Mabel and Ted visited often and spent

every Christmas alongside them.

She is also survived by her brother Tom and sisterin-

law Darlene, as well as her nieces Cheryl, Patty,

Debbie and her Aunt Ev.

Mabel married Ted on August 12 1967 in Montana,

USA. They enjoyed their years living in Calgary,

where they raised their children Tibi, Tommy and

Lori, and where Mabel worked for many years in

banking and cosmetics and even had a brief career

in modeling. They moved to Osoyoos in 1988, where

they built their dream home on a beautiful orchard

on the east bench; an orchard Ted had purchased

when he was only 25 years of age.

Amongst her many wonderful qualities, she will

certainly be remembered for her exceptional

gardening skills and interior design abilities. She had

a unique flair for shopping, had the perfect balance

of class and taste, as well as the most amazing sense

of humour, which continued to light up a room until

her final days.
