Leonora (Lee) Churchman

January 1926 -
March 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Lee Churchman announce her passing on March 8, 2020. Lee had been living in Nanaimo for the past eight years to be closer to her family.

Lee was born in Liverpool, England on January 11, 1926. She married a handsome Canadian soldier, Val McDonald, in 1945 and followed him to Canada in 1946. She was one of many ‘war brides’ who immigrated after the end of WW2. Val and Lee settled in Greenwood where they raised a family and were a vital part of the community for many years.

Lee later married David Churchman and lived in Osoyoos, where she was an active member of the Osoyoos Golf Club, the Curling Club, the Sweet Adelines, and the Triple O’s singing group. She worked at the Osoyoos Credit Union, and once retired, volunteered at the United Church Thrift Shop.

Lee developed many friendships over the years and will be remembered for her kind and caring nature. She loved to read. She was noted for her style. She was always interested in the people around her, and loved a good conversation. She remained engaged with the world around her until her passing.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Val McDonald, and later by her second husband, David Churchman. She is survived by her four children, (Jack, Frank, Marie, and Veronica), nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by David’s three children David, Christine, and Andrew, and their families.

A gathering of family and friends to honour and celebrate Lee’s life will be held at a later date.
