Lee (Leland) D. Patterson

January 9, 2023

We are very sad to share the news that Lee passed away on January 9, 2023, at South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver, B.C. Lee is survived by his loving family: his beloved wife Kay (Katherine) Patterson and daughter Krista Patterson; his siblings Fay Williamson, Arlene Edris, Josephine Posehn, Ralph Scribner, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Lee was born in Vancouver, B.C. as a young man he worked on CP Ferries and then spent 40 years working in the maritime towing industry, earning his 350 Ton Master’s Certificate in 1992. He had an incredible knowledge of the B.C. coast and fielded questions about navigation and tides well past his retirement. Always quick to jump in and lend a hand, one day while driving hime from work he stopped at an accident scene to pul the driver from a burning car.

He was also known for his kindness (especially to animals), his quick wit and his love of golf, having achieved a ‘hole-in-one’ in 2015. Lee and Kay retired to Osoyoos fifteen years ago, where Lee enjoyed being part of the community, playing golf in the summer, shooting pool at the Seniors Centre in the winter, and walking his Jack Russell Terriers at swiws Provincial Park (Haynes Point) year round.

Lee celebrated both his 80th birthday, and his 58th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife Kay in December. He is dearly missed by family and friends.

His family thanks Dr. M. DeVries of Osoyoos, Renal Nurse Christine Osland and the Dialysis team at Penticton General Hospital, and the nursing staff at the South Okanagan General Hospital for their kindness and exceptional care.

No service by request. A gathering may be planned in future. In lieu of flowers, please donate in memoriam to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
