Kenneth Charles Hathaway

Ken Hathaway passed away on March 10, 2022, at the South Okanagan General Hospital.  He is predeceased by his late wife Doreen Hathaway, his sister Marge Liske and his brother Harvey Hathaway.  He is survived by his second wife Esther Hathaway, his children Milton Hathaway, Melody Waterberg, Shawn Hathaway and Kristine Hathaway, his 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and by his sister Evelyn Saylor.

Ken ran his plumbing business in Kelowna, along with his brother Harvey.  When he left that, he took the job of superintendent of the construction of the Seventh-day Adventist Camp Facility in Blackstrap, Saskatchewan, followed by the position of director of Camp Hope for many years.  He then returned to plumbing and heating, this time in Williams Lake, until he retired to sunny Oliver, BC.

He was very involved in the leadership of the SDA Pathfinder club for young people in Kelowna, including starting up a marching band and organizing many camporees and events.

Ken pursued many hobbies throughout his life, and always with a great deal of passion.  In addition to being an avid gardener, he built a large aviary and raised many varieties of exotic birds.  Another passion was woodworking, lathing in particular, and he created many beautiful bowls and unique toys.

Ken was a man of great faith, never wavering in his believe in God’s goodness and plan.

The family would like to particularly thank the nurses and staff of the acute care ward at the South Okanagan General Hospital.
