It is with great sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Judy. She was born in Oliver and spent a happy childhood in Osoyoos.

Judy was predeceased by her parents Ross and Ruby Echlin and her husband Tom.

Judy’s quirky humour and huge smile will be missed by her sister Linda (Alan), her nieces Jennifer (Robin) and Kate (Mike) and her many friends and family.

Judy always had a love for travel and adventure. After university she and her husband John spent their first year of marriage travelling around the world. They climbed in the Himalayas, taught English in Japan to Japanese businessmen, and spent time in Israel and Australia. They then settled in Prince George and Mackenzie to teach. At the end of her marriage she moved back to Vancouver.

Judy later moved to Iowa to pursue her love of meditation. While in Iowa she met Jeff and spent several years in environment-friendly pursuits before returning to the West Coast to settle in Bellingham, Washington. During this time, she worked finding job placements for those with emotional and mental difficulties. She enjoyed gardening, singing in the choir, and ballroom dancing. It was while dancing that she met Tom whom she later married.

Judy had been in declining health due to Alzheimer’s. You can now rest in peace Jude.

A family graveside service is planned to celebrate her life.
