Irene Marianne Goehly

September 25th, 2019

Born July 3, 1939 in Komotau. Passed away Sept. 25th, 2019.

In 1946, she, her siblings, and her mother were expelled from her home to West Germany. At that time, Germany was split into zones and each zone was occupied by a different army. Irene ended up in the American sector, which was Bavaria and Hesse. She attended school until 1954 in Hesse. In 1954, she found a job as a nanny in Bavaria. 1955, we met for the first time and have been together ever since. We got married in 1960 and slowly worked our way up with various jobs. It was the time of recovery and rebuilding. Irene was always with me, especially during our first business in the automobile sector. 1978, we spent our vacation in Canada and the USA.

As we drove through Osoyoos along the lake, it really hit us. The town with the lake and the mountains seemed like a second home, very similar to our home in Bavaria. 1985, we decided to move to our dreamland, Canada – in particular to Osoyoos where we bought a farm.

Irene loved gardening and with Irene’s support, I started a new venture. The “treeholder” was invented by me and I had it patented. This hook was a revolution in the farming business and was marketed worldwide. It was a full success.

Ludwig says, “But now I am alone with all the memories of Irene.”
