February 26, 1932 – June 22, 2021

It is with great sadness that our family announces the

passing of Ilene Isobel Purdon (nee Beadle) on June 22,

2021, at the age of 89. Ilene was predeceased by

her husband Arthur Donald Purdon, parents Charles and

Isobel Beadle, her brother Ron Beadle and sister Beverley

Gaudette.

She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Don

Beadle, daughters Julie Bartley (Blair), Linda Chamberlayne

(Bruce), Carol Jeffrey (Glenn) and sons Don

Purdon (Lynn) and David Purdon (Shelley), as well

as 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and

numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Ilene was born on February 26, 1932 and raised in

New Westminster. She married the love of her life

in 1952 and they had 62 years together and raised 5

children. She was an outstanding homemaker who

filled her home with love and the delicious smells of

fresh bread, granola, vegetables from her garden and

canned fruit. Ilene loved to sing, play the guitar and

lead music in her church and around the campfire.

Her ready smile and infectious laugh welcomed family,

friends and strangers. At 87 she was still flipping

cheese sandwiches and making conversation with the

homeless through her church in downtown Kelowna.

She will be sorely missed by all who knew her, but she

left us with many precious memories.
