Gerardus “Gerry” Van Der Gulik

July 24, 1934 -
June 30, 2019

On Sunday, June 30, 2019, Gerry passed away at Penticton Hospital at the age of 84 years.

Gerry will be dearly missed by his Loving wife, Annie of 59 years, and his 3 children. Daughter, Anita (Ben), Sons, Perry (Leona) and Mike (Janel), his 8 grandchildren and one great grandson.

Gerry was born in Hoogkarspel, Netherlands. He grew up in the war years in a family of 12 children. He knew what hard times were. He was a truck driver in Holland and always loved to be behind the wheel. He met his wife Annie in Holland and in the spring of 1960 they married and immigrated to Canada.

Gerry was the first in his family to immigrate.

He became a Carpenter/Contactor when he came to Canada.

He lived in Coquitlam for the first 35 years before moving to Osoyoos in 1995. Gerry loved the sun and warm weather. He loved Hunting, 4 wheel driving, skiing, hiking, camping, boating, anything with adventure. He was a hard working husband and father, but liked to take time for his family to travel and have outings on Sundays.

Gerry and Annie were snowbirds and travelled to the warm sunshine every winter for his retirement years. First to the Baja and then to Holtville, California, where they met and had a large group of good friends.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated on July 13, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Parish in Osoyoos.

Interment will be on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 11:00 am at
Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Anne’s Parish or the B. C. Cancer Society would be appreciated.
