George Vincent Halter
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother and uncle on Thursday, September 30, 2021. George is survived by his children: Norman (Gloria), Karin, Belva, Robert, Deborah, Tracy (Perry), 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters Alice and Mary Ann. He was predeceased by his parents: Matthew and Mary Halter; 5 brothers: Anthony, Peter, Joseph, Matthew and John; 2 daughters: Denise and Pamela; 1 niece: Carol; 1 nephew: Larry and his beloved companion Laura.
Born in Dodsland, Saskatchewan on February 6, 1926, George joined the Navy during World War II serving his country. After the Navy, he served numerous Saskatchewan communities employing his plumbing skills in various towns and communities. Later he started his own construction company. He constructed 2 churches in Northern Saskatchewan as well as many other construction projects. George was a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus in Kindersley, SK in the late 1960’s and he continued until he moved from the Oliver area to Kelowna, BC in 2015. He wintered in Arizona until he retired to the Okanagan. He loved to dance and golf and would play cards with anyone who was willing. You would often catch him enjoying a huge bowl of clam chowder during one of his Friday outings. George gave his family endless memories and will be greatly missed.
