FORSYTH, Donald Alan

May 7, 1931 -
December 28, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Don who loved life and lived it to the fullest.

He will be sorely missed by his beloved wife Marg, to whom he was devoted for sixty-eight years, and his children, Lynn Walford (Tony), Lori McFadden (Don), Dave Forsyth (Carrie), Al Forsyth (Carolyn), and Jan Forsyth (Val). His thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews will lovingly remember his influence in their lives.

Don graduated from UBC in 1953 with a BSc, majoring in Chemistry and also obtained an MA in Education from SFU. He started his teaching career in Quesnel, and later taught in Niagara Falls, Coquitlam, Surrey and Burnaby. Don and Marg resided in Coquitlam during the bulk of his teaching years at Burnaby South Senior High where he was highly respected and admired.

In 1986, Don and Marg moved to Osoyoos and built their dream home, where, with an open door, they greeted family and friends.

Don’s main joys in life were golfing, playing bridge, skiing and travelling with Marg.

His passion to teach and learn were always at his core and all who knew him were beneficiaries of his knowledge and skills.

San Carlos, Mexico, was Don and Marg’s favorite winter getaway and they made many lifelong friends there. They loved the Mexican culture and enjoyed the challenge of learning Spanish together.

Don embraced the Christian faith and enjoyed attending the Osoyoos United Church with Marg.

His kind heart and zest for life touched many and he will never be forgotten.

A virtual Celebration of Life service will be held and information is available at https://www.newnarrative.ca/donforsyth.

Donations may be made in Don’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
