February 13, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom/Mutti/Oma, Emmi Urban, on February 13, 2022, in Penticton, B.C. Mom passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born in Neu Sarata, Romania and moved to Osoyoos in 1950. Mom celebrated her 100th birthday on January 19. For this special celebration, she had many small parties spread over several weeks with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was thrilled to see so many of her immediate family members some of whom, due to covid had not seen their Oma in several years. She was serenaded by her friends from the Heidelberg Club and their singing made her birthday extra special. She is now in the arms of her beloved husband George, her daughter Annelore and her son Peter. She is survived by her daughters Monika Wegener, Heidi Palmer (Kurt), Angela Chenier, Rita Yastremski (Audie), her daughter-in-law Wendy Urban, and sister Helen Tessla (Joseph). She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren who brought her great joy. Emmi and George were orchardists in Osoyoos for almost 50 years and then moved to Penticton in 1998. Mom lived in Cherry Lane Towers until nine months ago when she moved into Assisted Living at Village by the Station. She lived a very full life and she always told us that she was “a very lucky old lady.” But truthfully, we were the lucky ones.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church in Penticton on Saturday March 5 at 2:00 p.m.
