Dorothy Leibel
Dorothy Leibel (Wray) passed away November 14, 2022 at the Spring Valley Care Centre in Kelowna, BC at the age of 97. Dorothy was born in Woodrow, SK to Morgan and Bonnie Wray.
Dorothy is predeceased by Roy, her husband of 63 years, their son Randy Roy Leibel and her later-in-life partner, Russell Filson, as well as her parents, three siblings (Grant Wray, Ted Wray, Beryl Wallenger) and special brother-in-law John Leibel who lived with Dorothy and Roy for many years.
Missing her and left to celebrate her legacy is her daughter, Lynette Nicholas and son-in-law Ross; grandchildren Damien, Nathan, Danielle, Robin, Adrienne, Geody, Leanna and Alton along with their families; and half-sister Pat Wray. Dorothy’s love and care touched every member of her immediate and extended family who were all very important to her.
In the early 90s, Roy and Dorothy moved to Oliver, BC from Milestone, SK. Oliver was a community they easily fell in love with. Dorothy quickly immersed herself in community activities being very active in the Oliver Senior Centre and the bridge club, the thrift shop, the Oliver Gleaners, the Friendship Force, the bowling and bocci ball teams and the Legion. She cheered on her three grandchildren as they participated in school and sporting events. Dorothy treasured the wonderful and lasting friendships she made in Oliver and it was with great sadness she left Oliver in 2013 to move into independent living in Winfield, BC where her daughter lived.
In 2021 Dorothy became a resident of the Spring Valley Care Centre in Kelowna where she passed away surrounded by family and loving, compassionate caregivers.
Dorothy’s positivity, passion for life and caring spirit impacted all who knew her. She leaves behind her joy and love and a reminder to live life to the fullest each and every day.
An intimate graveside remembrance will take place in the spring of 2023 in Oliver, BC where her husband and brother-in-law rest in peace.
