It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Donn Baskett on September 28th at his home in Osoyoos, BC.

Donn was born on February 7, 1954 at St. Martins hospital in Oliver, BC. He was proud to call Osoyoos his home for the majority of his life. Donn grew up on the shores of Osoyoos Lake. He loved spending his summer days swimming and even made the local paper for his several swims across the lake. In the winter he enjoyed navigating Osoyoos’s first ever ice boat. In his youth Donn developed a passion for instrumental music and became skilled at guitar and mandolin. Upon leaving home Donn travelled across Canada working for farmers; one of his favourite jobs was at a fish farm in the prairies. After these adventures Donn trained and worked in the truck tire repair industry. Donn was a thoughtful man who loved spending his time with family, watching CFL, reading, listening to music, making red wine, gardening, biking and camping.

Donn was predeceased by his parents John and Valery Baskett.

Donn will be greatly missed by his brothers; Morris, Gerald, Bryon and Larrie and his sister-in-laws; Anne, Ellen and Duan. Donn had a tremendous love for his family and always made keeping in touch a priority. His nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart: Ward, Craig, Tani, Lisa, Sandra, Allison, Deanna, Carli, Shery, Daana, Celina, Nathan and Devon. All will especially miss his witty sense of humour, curiosity, and gentle demeanour. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Osoyoos United Church which was a special place for Donn.
