Carole Thorne
Nov 16, 1943 ~ Feb 10. 2021
A previous survivor of Breast Cancer and volunteer for
the Terry Fox Cancer Foundation in Brookfield, Nova
Scotia in the 70’s and 80’s, unfortunately another bout
of cancer visited Carole over the past year that has sadly
resulted in Carole’s recent passing.
Predeceased by Father, Kenneth A Thorne, and
Mother Ruby V Thorne. Survived by: Partner, Shirley
MacLaughlin; Sister, Jackie Black and Brother, Dale
Thorne.
She served in the RCAF in early 60s, then worked as
a computer programmer for the Department of Supply
and Services in Ottawa in the late 60s, then worked as a
Programmer Analyst for Crossley Carpets in Truro, NS
until retirement.
After going through Hurricane Juan in Sept. 2003
decided to head for a sunnier clime – she and her partner
took a trip to the west coast and investigated the sunniest
spots of Canada, then decided to head for the Okanagan.
Where the sun, golfing and biking were just the ticket.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Society,
would be welcomed.
Thank you to all who have expressed concern and offered
assistance when needed during Carole last months.
