He worked hard his whole life and made friends easily. Over the years, Ayton coached Pee Wee hockey in Regina and was a member of the Alliance Church participating in bible study groups. He was active in many sports and was an excellent hockey player in his youth earning an invite to try out for the Detroit Red Wings. He enjoyed square dancing and curling but most weekends you’d find him on the golf course. Ayton was president of the Vancouver Golf Club in 1984. He always made time for his kids, sitting patiently through music lessons, swim lessons and golf lessons.
