Adam Sabyan – A Tribute

February 24, 2023

Our Dad embarked on his journey to Heaven on February 24th, 2023, at the youthful age of 93. He was the eldest of four brothers that have been watching over him for some time. Adam Sabyan began business in Oliver in 1961 in a large, empty commercial building. He operated Sabyan Chev Olds from 1975 to 2005. Previous to operating the Sabyan Chev Olds franchise Adam also ran International Harvester Sales, Mazda Motors, American Motors, and numerous other businesses. He retired at the age of 76.

Adam was a very active member of the community, including President of the Oliver Kinsman, an Honorary Kinsman, a dedicated Red Cross donor, and Alderman, as well as many other volunteer groups and activities. With help from his great friends, Adam was instrumental in seeing the community of Oliver grow to have baseball fields, a new community centre, curling rink, arena, development of the industrial area of town and the new hospital. We will always remember his commitment to donating hockey and baseball jerseys to numerous sports teams.

In his retirement Adam enjoyed gardening, fishing, travelling, motor home outings, and most of all his family BBQ’s. Some of his favorite stories to tell were about the annual Kinsman fishing trips to Beaver Lake. Adam was a very devoted family man leaving behind his loving wife Lucy, and four sons; Jim (Karen), Rob (Lori), David (Barb), and Chip (Kathy).

We will miss you every day, Dad. God Bless You!
