Downtown Oliver will once again be transformed into a glittering Christmas wonderland when the Oliver Business Association holds its annual Christmas Light Up on November 29.
The festivities kick off with pictures with Santa at Royal LePage from 3:30 to 5:30 and face painting at Medici’s from 4:30 to 6 pm. If you don’t make it to Medici’s, face painting will be available at the South Okanagan Immigrant and Community Services office downtown after 6 pm.
Other attractions include Mrs. Claus’s workshop, a kid’s corner, a bouncy house, balloon art and a colouring contest with prizes awarded to first, second and third place. These attractions can be found at the workshop which is open from 5-7 pm, and will be located at 6222 Main Street in the old Alberto’s building. If that doesn’t get you in the holiday spirit, continue down Main Street for shopping, hot drinks and treats, or stop by the Christmas tree decorating contest on School Avenue.
Entertainment will be provided by Oliver’s own Mikie Spillett, Sage Valley Voices and the OES Choir, and can be found at Town Hall with the official Light Up ceremony being held at 5:30 pm.
The evening will conclude with a bonfire and fireworks at the Community Park from 7-9 pm. Don’t forget to enter the Shopper’s draw for a chance to win “Oliver Bucks,” which can be redeemed at local businesses. The winners will be drawn on December 20.
