Private healthcare would be a death knell to British Columbians.
Other provinces have tried private healthcare and it only benefits those who can afford it.
With the high cost of living that we are currently under, there is almost no way private healthcare would be of benefit to anyone.
Provincial and federal funding to help towns bring in medical staff is much more viable.
Towns should be able to have funding for both short- and long-term housing for locums in all medical areas. This would help initiate the return of these folks to a community that made them feel welcome and want to come back and raise their families there.
Funding doctors for the time of patient visits would go a long way to helping as well.
Bring in more nurse practitioners and lower the rules for out-of-country medical staff. In my view, South African doctors have even better training than our own.
Please, no private healthcare.
